AU PLACARD

Au placard – 2011

Private collection

“From the breathless lagoon, a terrible beauty is born…”

This work, Au placard, was created for the island of Murano, the historical stronghold of glassmaking, where a conservative profession is slowly dying, turning a blind eye to the evolution of creation and tolerating a trade complicit with the industrial market.
Asphyxiated in the sarcophagus of tradition, father and son, master and apprentice — forever separated in their pantheon — let the era slip by…
Exhibited as part of the International Glass Biennale, in co-edition with the 2011 Venice Biennale, this work alone represented French Glass Art.
